Terms of use

These are the rules for using Flog It (flogit.africa). By creating an account, or by using the site, you agree to them. They're written to be read, so please do.

What Flog It is

Flog It lets you put the things you're selling on one page and share its link. Buyers message you through Flog It, and the two of you arrange the rest.

Flog It is not part of any sale. We don't own, inspect or hold anything that's listed. We don't handle money, take deposits or keep anything in trust. We don't promise that an item is what its listing says, that it works, or that it's the seller's to sell. The deal is between the buyer and the seller, and so is any dispute about it.

Your account

• You need to be 18 or older to have an account.
• Use your own details. One person, one account.
• Keep your password to yourself. What's done with your account is your responsibility.
• You can delete your account at any time, in Settings.

Selling

• Only sell things that are yours to sell, and describe them honestly, including faults.
• Flog It is for people clearing out their own things, not for businesses or dealers. If you buy goods to resell them, Flog It isn't for you yet: second-hand dealers have duties under the Second-hand Goods Act that this site doesn't support.
• Photos must be of the actual item, and yours to use.

What may not be listed

Firearms, ammunition and parts of them; drugs and medicines; live animals; ivory, rhino horn and any protected wildlife product; tobacco and alcohol; counterfeit or copied goods; adult content; anything with a removed or tampered serial number; anything stolen; and anything else that's illegal to sell in South Africa.

Messages

Be polite, and keep messages about the sale. No spam, harassment, threats, or asking for someone's banking details or one-time PINs. Your email address is never shown to anyone. Your mobile number is shown only to someone you choose to share it with, in that one conversation.

When we act

We may remove a listing or a garage, block a conversation, or close an account, when something breaks these rules or puts people at risk. Usually that follows a report. Use Report on any garage, item or conversation to tell us about a problem.

Our responsibility

We run Flog It carefully, but it's offered as it is. We can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. As far as the law allows, we're not responsible for any loss that comes from a sale, a meeting, or from using the site. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act that can't be taken away.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll say so on the site before it applies.
